Digital Content Creator (Internship)

Volt Europa, the pan-European political party, is looking for a digital content creator for 6 months.


Are you skilled in video production and a native social media creative? Do you want to make a real impact ahead of the 2024 European elections? You just may be the person we’re looking for!

For our social media platforms, which include Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, and LinkedIn, we're searching for someone with a keen interest in social media trends and the capacity to create high-quality content.

As the Digital Content Creator, you will report to the Digital Marketing Manager and work closely with our PR Manager and the rest of the European Communications Team.

This position is full-time, remunerated and fully remote but some (expensed) travel may be required from time to time.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist in the management of Volt Europa’s social media accounts

  • Create various forms of social media content - but especially videos - for Volt Europa’s social media accounts

  • Track social media performance to identify ideas and current trends

  • Brainstorm and research ideas for Volt Europa’s content calendar

  • Ensure every piece of content aligns with our brand identity and voice

Other tasks

  • Attend and actively participate in meetings with Volt Europa’s leadership and elected officials

  • Help compile research documents to support national teams’ digital marketing efforts

  • Assist in the development of the communication strategy for the European elections campaign

What we look for in you

  • 1+ years of experience in content creation, video production and editing

  • Ability to write clear and easy-to-understand texts in English

  • Strong organisational skills

  • Robust design skills and familiarity with Adobe products and/or Figma

  • Knowledge of the EU

What we offer

  • A competitive allowance of 550€ for a full-time paid contract for 6 months under Dutch law. While the position is fully remote, all candidates must reside in the Netherlands.

  • 2.5 days of time off / month

Design Co-lead (female/diverse)

We are looking for a talented designer to take the lead on the work concerning our brand identity and creating great designs for print and our social media channels.

About the position

As a design co-lead you will build, coordinate and manage a team of other graphic designers in cooperation with your male counterpart. Together with the social media team and the communications leads, you will ensure consistent design throughout our external communication, create curated visuals for our channels and further develop our brand.

Volt is looking for an ambitious new member who is a skilled writer and passionate about European politics! As part of this role you will be working with the Communications Team.

Description of the Team

Volt Europa is a dynamic and growing political presence in Europe with ambitious plans for the European Elections in 2024.  To realize these ambitious plans, Volt Europa's message needs to reach a wider, more diverse audience to facilitate conversations and connections with potential supporters. That's where the Volt Europa Communications Team comes in.

The Communications Team is responsible for disseminating Volt's message to the outside world.  They work closely with the Volt Europa Board, Elected Officials from across Europe, and teams within Volt Europa, to ensure our message connects with the right supporters through the right medium.

About You

  • You ate a skilled communicator who can listen and translate information into written deliverables. 

  • You have experience creating compelling narratives, key messages, and tools (e.g., articles, blog posts, talking points, presentations) that promote knowledge sharing and inspire action.

  • You can break down the objectives of our political programme mission and write engaging content, even when covering technical or complicated policies.

Duties and Responsibility

  • Develop written deliverables and key communication tools in line with Volt’s mission and goals.

  • Create compelling content that translates our political programme for 2024.

  • Comprehend and synthesize complex information in a way that is understandable and relatable for our members.

  • Align with national chapters to insert their updates in the newsletters.

Opinion piece writer

About the position:

You will be responsible for writing timely and effective opinion pieces that help bring Volt’s positions into major publication, both at a European and national level. You will also be responsible for helping other Volters, especially European board members, national leads and election candidates, identify and draft opinion pieces that help position them as thought leaders.

What you will do:

  • Write and edit opinion pieces

  • Obtain relevant content from sources of knowledge within Volt (such as the EUR Policy team)

  • Guide other Volters in identifying suitable topics and help them write opinion pieces on them

  • Build and maintain relationships with the relevant media representatives responsible for evaluating and publishing opinion pieces

What you should bring to the job:

  • Proven copy-writing record

  • Ideally previous experience writing opinion pieces in the media

  • Excellent English-language skills

  • A good sense for relevant and timely topics

  • The ability to plan ahead and meet deadlines in order to publish “just in time”

Discord Team member (Unpaid)

We are looking for talented Discord team members to help improve our pan-European Discord server with more than 10.000 members.

About us

Volt Europa is a pan-European movement with more than 10 000 members and volunteers across Europe. Our goal is simple: we believe in the European dream but we want to make it better and more democratic.

The EUR Discord Team works on maintaining and improving Volt’s official Discord server

About the position 

The tasks of a Discord team member can be quite diverse depending on what you’re interested in and what your skill set is. 

Moderating the Discord chat, hosting events, welcoming new members on the Volt Discord server, implementing ideas on how to improve the Discord, developing bots in either Python or Node.TS, are just some of the areas you can get involved in. People of all skillsets are welcome in our team, you do not need to be versed in all of the different areas!

This position is very flexible and the time investment can range from half an hour a week to as many as you want to invest, all depending on what your schedule allows. We do hope for people who can invest at least two hours per week though, as that will relieve more time from current team members. This will then leave more time to improve our Discord. 

Volt Europa strives for parity between men and women, since the ratio among our Discord moderators is slightly off, we especially encourage people identifying as female or non-binary to apply!
