Francesca Romana d'Ántuono film crew
We’re producing a cross-border documentary following our Co-President, Francesca Romana D'Antuono, as she travels across Europe exploring what it means to raise children today. From paternity leave to education systems and the cost of having kids, this film asks: How is Europe treating early childhood, and what does that mean for us?
Directed by David Blitz, the documentary will weave together personal experiences from different countries, capturing intimate moments and exploring how policies shape everyday life. As we journey across Europe, we’ll spotlight local stories before concluding in Brussels, bringing these critical conversations to the heart of EU decision-making.
We’re assembling a creative volunteer team to help bring this important story to life by 2026.
Do you want to contribute to Europe's future?
Volt stands for a united and federal Europe, where everyone has equal opportunities to fulfil their unique potential. We strive to achieve the highest human, environmental, social, and technological development together. We are a pan-European political movement with 200 elected representatives across Europe, including 5 members of the European Parliament, over 30,000 members and hundreds of volunteers who work hard to make our vision a reality.
Volt is an inclusive movement that wants to provide space for everyone to thrive. We believe the power of diversity achieves better results for our society at large. We can only be the inclusive political movement we aspire to be, if we represent different voices and perspectives in our society. Your skin colour, gender identity, disabilities, sexual orientation or religious belief do not matter. You are welcome in our organisation, and we want to work together with you to create a better Europe for everyone.
What will you do?
To complete our film crew, we are looking for creative people for various volunteer positions:
Producer / Line Producer: Manage multi-country logistics, local permits, childcare releases, and budget coordination — with support from local fixers. (Remote role with need to travel)
Editor: Someone based in Amsterdam who can shape a playful but emotionally grounded story from many vignettes and visuals, balancing tone across regions. (Role based in Amsterdam)
Animator: Someone capable of creating an animated storyline about a frustrated mom. (Remote role)
Motion Designer / Data Visualist: For those elegant floating infographics and tactile policy overlays — bonus if you can work with real-time footage. (Remote role)
Composer / Sound Designer: A light, inventive score with motifs for different regions and a sound palette that supports both whimsy and gravity. (Remote role)
Childcare Consultant or Advisor: Ensure respectful portrayal of young children across borders, and navigating permissions and ethical boundaries. (Remote role)
Second Camera or Drone Op: To capture aerials of bike rides, train transitions, or sweeping urban rhythms. (Can be based anywhere but requires travel)
Local Fixers / Translators: Particularly in Greece, Slovakia, and Portugal. Helpful for location scouting, permissions, and cultural nuance. (Local role, needs depend on country)
Creative local assistant: Someone with a meme sense of humour, to tag along, to document behind-the-scenes chaos and outtakes for future promos. (Local role, any European country)
What skills do you need to excel in this role?
Research shows that (oftentimes) female candidates only apply when they meet 100% of the requirements, while male candidates do so when they meet just 60%. We explicitly encourage everyone to apply: you don’t have to tick every box to apply. We also consider your potential and motivation!
For every position outlined above, except for the local fixer and local assistant roles, you need to have experience with the role as described. In addition, for each role, we are looking for someone who:
Passion for Volt’s Mission and European Unity: You care deeply about a more democratic, united, and forward-looking Europe; and you’re excited to help tell that story creatively. Whether you're behind a camera, designing sound, or wrangling permits, your work helps shape a narrative that reflects Volt's values and ambitions across borders.
Comfortable in a Remote, Cross-Cultural, Volunteer Team: You thrive in a digital workspace and enjoy collaborating across cultures. Whether you're working remotely or coordinating on the ground, you're adaptable, inclusive, and know how to communicate clearly in a decentralised team of volunteers.
Independent, Proactive and Flexible: You’re a self-starter who doesn’t wait for step-by-step instructions. You can take a brief and run with it, solve problems as they arise, and know when to ask the right questions. Flexibility is key: plans evolve, especially in creative and pan-European contexts.
Respectful, Ethical, and People-Centered: Whether filming children, interpreting sensitive cultural contexts or managing community narratives, you’re thoughtful about representation, privacy, and dignity. You don’t just want to capture stories — you want to honour the people behind them.
What do we offer?
A dynamic environment where no day is the same and no challenge is too big for you and your colleagues
A flexible, remote work environment where you will collaborate with passionate, like-minded individuals from across Europe
Short decision-making processes, flat hierarchies and lots of room to implement your ideas
The opportunity to shape an exciting Film Project and have a real impact on European society and politics
