What strategy would you implement to recruit and retain highly specialised volunteers for the functional teams, for example in communications, policy, or data, over a full Board term?
The key to success in recruiting top talent into functional teams is to be clear about the requirements of the respective positions. Together with other Volt leaders I would help to make sure that adequate search profiles are available. Another core aspect is retention of core talent which can best be done by annual or semi-annual reviews of performance and job satisfaction.
I would encourage active searches on LinkedIn and respective online portals.
Non-executive Board members must both support and challenge the executives. Describe a situation where you would publicly back the Co-Presidents, and one where you would publicly dissent. What guides your choice?
Politics means organizing interaction and even conflict around significant political topics. I would back the Executives in any conflict concerning their strategies and strategic actions which are backed by the majority of the leadership team of Volt even in a situation where my personal opinion is not in line with their decision.
I would definitely challenge them in situations where their decisions were not backed by the strategy and the values of Volt snd general democratic principles. I would challenge them in any situation where they would deviate significantly from the agreed upon priorities.
What would you do if you believed the Board was making a decision that conflicted with Volt Europa's core values?
Be sure that it gets heard by the relevant governance bodies within Volt. This means in particular the full European Board, subsequently I would address committees such as ethics, arbitration or compliance committees (if existing) and I would inform on various levels and occasions the European delegates
