Statement on the suspension of Nilüfer Gündoğan from the Parliamentary Group
Nilüfer Gündoğan was suspended from Volt’s parliamentary group after complaints of transgressive behaviour had been made about her.
Sunday the 13th of February, Nilüfer Gündoğan was suspended from Volt’s parliamentary group in the Tweede Kamer, the Dutch House of Representatives, after complaints of transgressive behaviour had been made about her.
An independent investigative agency was hired by the parliamentary group to investigate these allegations. For the time being, Nilüfer Gündoğan remains a member of Volt but will no longer be involved in party activities, including debates and events for campaigns in the Netherlands or elsewhere.
Volt supports the actions undertaken by the Dutch team in order to preserve the anonymity, safety and confidentiality of the people reporting these incidents.
Our priority as a party and movement is to build a safe environment, where people feel safe when reporting transgressive behaviour and in which relevant investigations can be carried out without any interference to the process.
Volt Europa will not make any further statement on this incident, until the investigation is concluded.
