Do you want to contribute to Europe's future?
Volt stands for a united and federal Europe, where everyone has equal opportunities to fulfil their unique potential. We strive to achieve the highest human, environmental, social, and technological development together. We are a pan-European political movement with 200 elected representatives across Europe, including 5 members of the European Parliament, over 30,000 members and hundreds of volunteers who work hard to make our vision a reality.
Volt is an inclusive movement that wants to provide space for everyone to thrive. We believe the power of diversity achieves better results for our society at large. We can only be the inclusive political movement we aspire to be, if we represent different voices and perspectives in our society. Your skin colour, gender identity, disabilities, sexual orientation or religious belief do not matter. You are welcome in our organisation and we want to work together with you to create a better Europe for everyone.
What will you do?
As Digital Communications Lead, you will play a key role in shaping how Volt Europa communicates its mission and engages its audience across Europe. You will:
Develop and lead our (digital) communications strategy: Ensure Volt Europa's messaging resonates across Europe and aligns with our vision.
Manage and empower a team of volunteers and interns: Create, strengthen and oversee volunteer teams with different focus areas (design, social media, digital media, copywriting, audio/video, etc.), providing clear guidance and support.
Lead the team to work on the following core tasks:
Social media campaigns, including scheduling and analytics: Planning, executing and tracking attention-grabbing online campaigns across platforms and analyse the performance thereof to improve the effectiveness of our communications.
Website management: managing our website content; maximising traffic towards the website, optimising content and journeys, establishing and improving SEO and SEA activities.
Newsletter campaigns: Drafting and sending newsletters, including executing campaigns like crowdfunding initiatives.
Content creation: creating engaging, visually appealing, cross-channel contents (web, social media, email) for segmented audiences and personae; ensuring that all content is aligned with our messaging and values.
Coordination with chapters: Align and coordinate with national chapters, supporting and empowering them to communicate effectively at the local level, all the while maintaining brand consistency. Making sure that we use the existing structures to make your job more efficient.
What skills do you need to excel in this role?
Research shows that (oftentimes) female candidates only apply when they meet 100% of the requirements, while male candidates do so when they meet just 60%. We explicitly encourage everyone to apply: you don’t have to tick every box to apply. We also consider your potential and motivation!
Project management expertise: You have experience handling multiple projects and delivering results on time in collaboration with diverse, cross-functional teams.
Strong communication skills: You bring strong experience in marketing and communications, you know how to craft messages that connect with diverse target audiences across different platforms and can see the bigger picture in terms of strategic communication planning.
Stakeholder management: You are open and approachable and have experience liaising with different teams at the same time. You work well with people from different backgrounds.
Independent, proactive & flexible: As we work remotely, you’re a self-starter who takes initiative and works effectively with little supervision, able to anticipate challenges and proactively develop solutions. You can pivot to work on unexpected projects when needed.
What requirements do we ask for this role?
Professional experience: 3+ years of full-time work experience in a professional setting, ideally in communications or a related field and with social media platforms (LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook), SEO and SEA (e.g. SSO, SMO), content creation tools (e.g. Canva, Figma, Adobe Creative Suite).
Volunteer setting: You have experience working with volunteers, and you love to manage and empower volunteer teams in a digital ecosystem. Even in an online environment, you know how to keep people engaged.
