Co-Chair for a Thematic Community (f/d)

  • Are you passionate about Europe as we are?

  • Do you get energised by looking beyond national borders and collaborating across Europe?

  • Do you want to help form a European community that supports the creation of our political policies and has active societal impact?

Then you are invited to apply! It does not matter where you are from, which gender you identify with, whether you have a disability, who you love, what you believe in. We believe the power of diversity achieves better results for our society at large. We can only be the inclusive political movement we aspire to be, if we represent different voices and perspectives in our society.

Do you want to contribute to Europe's future?

Volt stands for a united and federal Europe, where everyone has equal opportunities to fulfil their unique potential. We strive to achieve the highest human, environmental, social, and technological development together. We are a pan-European political movement with more than 200 elected representatives across Europe and thousands of members and volunteers.

The vision of the EUR Community Team is “to build a European society of dignity, equality and fairness by guiding our community members to yearn to fulfil their vast potential and contribute it towards our shared future”. One of our tasks to make this possible is to empower both teams and individuals to get together and engage in cross-cultural and trans-national dialogue.

What do the thematic communities do?

A Thematic Community within Volt is a self-steering, non-administrative group focused on a specific policy theme (e.g. education, health, economy) at a pan-European level.

Key activities of chairs and members include:

  • Facilitate online policy discussions;

  • Build a network of experts, enthusiasts, and initiative-takers;

  • Support policy teams at all levels with research and expertise;

  • Collaborate with elected officials and candidates;

  • Advocate for relevant issues within Volt and society;

  • Organise external events to attract new members;

  • Partner withlocal chapters and NGOs for societal impact initiatives.

A Thematic Community starts small and grows organically over time, expanding its activities as it develops.

These are the thematic communities that are looking for co-chairs!

  • Digital Affairs Community

  • Health Community

  • Sustainability & Energy Transition Community

  • Community on Housing, Transport & Travelling/Tourism

  • Democracy & (EU) Reform Community

  • Economy & Public Finance Community

  • Foreign Affairs Community

  • Culture Community

What do you need to excel as a Co-Chair of a Thematic Community?

Research shows that (oftentimes) female candidates only apply when they meet 100% of the requirements, while male candidates do so when they meet just 60%. We explicitly encourage everyone to apply: you don’t have to tick every box to apply. We also consider your potential and motivation!

A suitable candidate:

  • Has community-organising skills, the ability to keep a clear overview of what is happening and what needs to be done in a multifaceted environment;

  • Has an affinity for the policy theme of the Community but, more importantly, an open mind to bring together people with different political perspectives and different expertise into one community;

  • Has a proactive personality to reach out to people and communicate the value of harmonised approaches across Europe and to lead relevant initiatives;

  • Takes responsibility and decisions based on inclusive community standards;

  • Is a good communicator, including being a good listener;

  • Actively works to include fairness, inclusion and integrity in everyday work.

Please note that we encourage everyone to apply, even if you are not certain you meet all the requirements! We also consider your potential and motivation!

What we offer you!

  • A majority of the work will be remote. You will meet and work with like-minded people that represent the richness of Europe’s people.

  • You contribute to shaping Volt's success in Europe, will grow with our party and movement, and can have a positive impact on European society.

  • You will be working closely with dedicated and inspiring people from the European, national and local teams.

  • You have the freedom to develop your own projects and shape Volt in a meaningful way.

  • You get hands-on experience in a growing movement and political party that is the future of Europe.
