Tech Support Lead
About the Position
Apply now to become our Tech Support Lead and drive technological innovation for a growing political force in Europe. We are looking for candidates with extensive experience in managing technology in large organisations. This role is paid, and the expected time commitment is two to three days per week.
Your tasks:
Tech Team Leadership
Lead and coordinate the tech team, which includes tasks like project prioritisation by tracking Asana, distraction elimination, and work with subteam leads.
Onboarding and activating new Tech team members, whilst maintaining a stable core tech team.
Solve escalated tickets due to your level of system access or other team restrictions as a lack of personnel.
Liaise with other teams including EUR Tech, Functional Team Leads, DigiCom, and the Data team through monthly calls.
Set up an (architecture) Strategy
Develop a pan-European tech strategy focused on building sustainable tools for Volt's community to thrive.
Maintain oversight of tech-related decisions, such as hosting infrastructure, tool guidelines, and domain ownerships and usage.
Administer tools and access
Several sysadmin tasks for applications like Vaultwarden, GitLab, Forge Laravel, Cloudflare, and many more.
Manage integrations with tools owned by other functional teams such as Action Network, Mave.io, Stripe and ClubCollect.

Experience in tech architecture: Proven ability to understand the interdependencies and implications of system decisions and frame all the difficult options in ways that allow the Volt Europa Board to decide.
Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of IT systems, tech tools, and experience navigating complex tech projects, willing to provide hands-on operational support in the sub teams and their projects.
Leadership and Management: Proven ability to empower and build bridges between teams, including volunteers, and ensure technology serves the needs of the organisation.
Independent and proactive: Used to being the initiator and leader of important projects, comfortable reporting directly to the Board
Flexibility: You thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, are adaptable and can pivot to work on unexpected projects when needed.
You have:
In this role, we are looking for someone who can empower diverse teams, from Helpdesk to Security, foster trust, and manage change effectively. We recognise that strong leadership comes in many forms and value leaders who can adapt their style to the needs of their team.
Tech Project Management: You have experience of successfully managing tech projects, ensuring timely delivery, stakeholder management, clear communication, and meeting project objectives.
Volunteer setting: You have experience working with volunteers, and you love to manage and empower volunteer teams in a digital ecosystem, or are willing to take on this new task. Even in an online environment, you know how to keep people engaged.
Nice to have:
You are a member of Volt Europa and have some insight into the organisation.
Experience in hosting or maintaining Open-Source software.
Ruby on Rails or PostgreSQL development experience
