Senior Technology Lead (f/m/d)

Apply now to become our Senior Technology Lead to help us maintain, build, and lead our technology innovation for a growing political force in Europe. We are looking for candidates with deep experience that know how to independently run technology in large organisations.

Do you want to contribute to Europe's future?

Volt stands for a united and federal Europe, where everyone has equal opportunities to fulfil their unique potential. We strive to achieve the highest human, environmental, social, and technological development together. We are a pan-European political movement with 250+ elected representatives across Europe, including 5 members of the European Parliament, over 35,000 members and hundreds of volunteers who work hard to make our vision a reality. Our technology infrastructure needs to reflect this.

Volt is an inclusive movement that wants to provide space for everyone to thrive. We believe the power of diversity achieves better results for our society at large. We can only be the inclusive political movement we aspire to be, if we represent different voices and perspectives in our society. Your skin colour, gender identity, disabilities, sexual orientation or religious belief do not matter. You are welcome in our organisation, and we want to work together with you to create a better Europe for everyone.

Come lead our Tech team to scale Volt’s impact!

This role will report to the General Secretary responsible for Operations.

What you will do:

  • Oversee our European IT infrastructure & technology.

  • Manage and execute large tech projects, with a strong focus on requirements engineering, stakeholder management (managing expectations) and vendor management. We are moving to a new member management system, and we recently moved to a new community platform. Other projects may arise depending on the tech strategy.

  • Experience in tech architecture: Proven ability to understand the interdependencies and implications of system decisions and frame all the difficult options in ways that allow the Volt Europa Board to decide.

  • Technical Expertise: A strong understanding of IT, Cybersecurity and navigating complex tech projects and willing to roll up your sleeves and provide hands-on operational support.

  • Leadership and Management, including Project Management: Proven track record in leading, inspiring a team in implementing a Tech strategy. You are comfortable managing a project from start to finish (getting requirements, making project plans, managing deadlines & expectations).

  • Independent and proactive: Used to being the initiator and leader of important projects, but also comfortable getting your hands dirty

  • Flexible and focused: You thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, and can pivot to work on unexpected projects when needed, while keeping the organisation’s strategy on top of mind. A lot will come your way, so you must be able to prioritise and stay steadfast.

What requirements do we ask for this role?

  • Tech Project Management: You have at least 5+ years of successfully managing large-scale tech projects, ensuring timely delivery, stakeholder management, clear communication, and meeting project objectives.

  • Volunteer setting: You have experience working with volunteers, and you love to manage and empower volunteer teams in a digital ecosystem. Even in an online environment, you know how to keep people engaged.

  • 30 days of holiday per contract year, in addition to public holidays

  • A dynamic environment where no day is the same and no challenge is too big for you and your colleagues
