Senior Technology Lead

Apply now to become our Senior Technology Lead to help us maintain, build, and lead our technology innovation for a growing political force in Europe. We are looking for candidates with deep experience that know how to independently run technology in large organisations.

Do you want to contribute to Europe's future?

Volt stands for a united and federal Europe, where everyone has equal opportunities to fulfil their unique potential. We strive to achieve the highest human, environmental, social, and technological development together. We are a pan-European political movement with 200 elected representatives across Europe, including 5 members of the European Parliament, over 30,000 members and hundreds of volunteers who work hard to make our vision a reality. Our technology needs to reflect this.

Volt is an inclusive movement that wants to provide space for everyone to thrive. We believe the power of diversity achieves better results for our society at large. We can only be the inclusive political movement we aspire to be, if we represent different voices and perspectives in our society. Your skin colour, gender identity, disabilities, sexual orientation or religious belief do not matter. You are welcome in our organisation and we want to work together with you to create a better Europe for everyone.

Come lead our Tech team to scale Volt’s impact!

What you will do:

  • Oversee our European infrastructure & technology

  • Maximise the productivity of staff, on the European and national levels, and multiply the efforts of tech volunteers in the organisation

  • Manage and implement large tech projects, with a strong focus on Stakeholder management and vendor management. These projects include:

    • Migrating to a new Community Engagement tool

    • Migrating to a new Member Management System (CiviCRM)

  • Develop and implement Tech Strategy and architecture: Develop a pan-European Tech strategy with a view to building sustainable tools for Volt's community to thrive

What skills do you need to excel in this role?

Research shows that (oftentimes) female candidates only apply when they meet 100% of the requirements, while male candidates do so when they meet just 60%. We explicitly encourage everyone to apply: you don’t have to tick every box to apply. We also consider your potential and motivation!

  • Experience in tech architecture: Proven ability to understand the interdependencies and implications of system decisions and frame all the difficult options in ways that allow the Volt Europa Board to decide.

  • Technical Expertise: A strong understanding of IT and navigating complex tech projects and willing to roll up your sleeves and provide hands-on operational support.

  • Leadership and Management: Proven track record in leading, inspiring a team in implementing a Tech strategy.

  • Independent and proactive: Used to being the initiator and leader of important projects, comfortable reporting directly to the Board

  • Flexibility: You thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, are adaptable and can pivot to work on unexpected projects when needed.

What requirements do we ask for this role?

  • Tech Project Management: You have at least 5+ years of successfully managing large-scale tech projects, ensuring timely delivery, stakeholder management, clear communication, and meeting project objectives.

  • Volunteer setting: You have experience working with volunteers, and you love to manage and empower volunteer teams in a digital ecosystem. Even in an online environment, you know how to keep people engaged.

Nice to have:

  • You are a member of Volt Europa and have some insight into the organisation.

  • Experience in hosting or maintaining Open-Source software.

Why join us:

  • Competitive salary for the non-profit sector

  • 30 days of holiday per contract year on a fulltime basis, in addition to public holidays

  • A dynamic environment where no day is the same and no challenge is too big for you and your colleagues

  • A flexible, remote work environment with offices all around Europe where you will collaborate with passionate, like-minded individuals from across Europe

  • The unique chance to contribute to shaping Volt's success in Europe, to grow with our party and movement, and to have a positive impact on European society.
