Title: Policy Support Team Volunteer (Advisory/ Functional), EUR Policy Team

Reports to: EUR Policy Leads

Location: Remote

The remit of the EUR Policy Team is broad and often project-driven. As such, the team sometimes needs ad hoc assistance in the form of expert advisory input and/ or functional support. The EUR Policy Support Team is a flexible, ‘on-call’ unit and comprises two types of volunteer:

Support Team Volunteer: Advisory – for those who have advanced, expert knowledge of a topic and are keen to share their expertise on an ad hoc basis (either in response to queries or during the development of formal policy)

Support Team Volunteer: Functional – for those who are willing to support the team in any way according to project requirements (e.g. supporting Policy Shapers in researching/ drafting policy documents, organising internal and external events, covering for absences, etc.)

Support Team Volunteers are not required to make a regular commitment to the EUR Policy Team (besides checking emails/ internal chats), meaning that this may be an ideal role for those who want to contribute to Volt’s vision but are short on time.

Essential requirements for all Support Team Volunteers

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively.

  • Knowledge of European politics, policy issues, and current events, and a commitment to progressive values and principles.

  • English language competence at CEFR level B2 or above. (The working language of Volt Europa’s EUR Policy Team is English.)

  • A commitment to upholding principles of diversity and inclusion in all aspects of your work, including the channels through which policy is made.

Additional requirements for Support Team Volunteers: Advisory

  • Demonstrable expert knowledge in a particular area (or areas) of policy.

  • Proven research and analysis skills (quantitative and qualitative), required to build an evidence base for policymaking.

Please note that this is an unpaid volunteering position. No formal time commitment is required except as agreed with the EUR Policy Leads on an ad-hoc basis.
