Local Assistant for Volt in the European Parliament – Focus: Germany

The Volt Delegation in the European Parliament (EP) is looking for local assistance in Berlin and Germany to establish and manage a contact office in Berlin. You will be working in Berlin and Brussels and supporting our German (and Dutch) MEPS in their work across Germany and Europe.

The aim of the local assistance is to foster civil engagement across Germany (and later all of Europe), to let journalists know about Volt’s work in the EP, to coordinate visits in the respective constituencies, organize public events and community projects. We want to shape politics for, but also together with the people in Europe and get more citizens engaged in politics. Your job will be to make this happen.

As a local assistant you will develop strategies to foster civic participation in important social, ecological, educational, economic, cultural and innovative matters. The MEPs have a wide range of topics, which only makes it more interesting: Ranging from innovation and Start-Ups to mobility on road and rail or education and cultural cooperation in Europe. You will work with a lot of different stakeholders like NGOs, cultural institutions, media, educational institutions, political parties, ministries on federal and state level and especially with the citizens everywhere in Germany and Europe.

Of course, you will be closely in touch with the Volt Delegation in the European Parliament, Brussels – but your main place of work would be Berlin. Here you can choose to work either from home or from the local Volt offices.

The deadline for your application is 5th October 2025 at 23.59 (CET).

Your tasks:

  • Developing a local engagement strategy: Developing and managing strategies to maximise the exchange between our MEPs and local, regional and national stakeholders (politics, media, NGOs, culture and educational institutions) and developing meaningful outreach campaigns together with our team in Brussels.

  • Organising and executing events: Planning, organisation and execution of events across Germany, such as panel discussions, interactive roundtables, debates, workshops and cultural exchanges.

  • Coordinating constituency visits: Organising and coordinating our MEPs’ visits and meetings with relevant institutions – in the capital, the federal states or the municipalities.

  • Commuication and Public Relations: Creating a large audience for our events and maintaining a good network with local, regional and national media.

  • Evaluation and progress tracking: Monitoring the success of campaigns and events and implementing improvements for future activities.

  • Civic participation and feedback: Establishing and managing feedback channels (surveys, idea boxes and online communities) to collect suggestions and input from citizens.

Your profile

We’re looking for someone with experience and knowledge in the German media landscape and with strong skills in organising and project leadership.

More precisely, you should bring:

  • A passion for European politics and identification with the core values and goals of Volt,

  • Creative ideas for organising events and campaigns in a German (and later, pan-European) context,

  • Strong organisational skills, experience in project leadership and problem-solving skills,

  • The ability to work autonomously and to adapt in a dynamic political environment,

  • Very good communication skills in German and English (any other European languages are a bonus)

  • Experience in collaborating with volunteers and in coordinating teams across different regions and countries

  • Flexibility, stress tolerance and multitasking skills, and

  • Optional: Knowledge of European Politics and in important policy fields (Culture, media, educational policies, mobility topics and investment and start-up policies)

Research shows that many women will only apply if they meet 100 % of the expectations, whereas men will apply if they meet 60 %. You do not have to meet every expectation – we value potential and motivation!

Your team

You will be working for Volt’s Delegation in the European Parliament and coordinating your work with colleagues at Volt Deutschland and other Volt chapters across Europe. You will become part of a vibrant, international team based in Berlin, Brussels, The Hague, Rome, Lisbon etc.

This is what we offer:

  • A unique opportunity to work at the heart of European and German politics and to shape and change them

  • Considerable creative freedom in creating and developing a local Volt EP team that can become a blueprint for future local teams

  • A dynamic, collaborative and international work environment

  • A competitive salary (depending on experience)

  • Generous remote work options

  • Private health insurance

  • Budgets for travel, trainings and much more
