HR Manager – Nordics (f/m/d)

Are you passionate about building diverse, motivated teams for a pan‑European political movement?

Do you thrive in coordinating recruitment, onboarding, and volunteer engagement across borders? Do you have a growth mindset, innovative ideas, a data‑driven approach, and the people skills it takes to empower volunteers and leaders in the Nordic region (Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden)? Then apply now to join Volt Europa as our HR Manager – Nordics and help strengthen our community across the region!

Do you want to contribute to Europe’s future?

Volt stands for a united and federal Europe, where everyone has equal opportunities to fulfil their unique potential. We strive to achieve the highest human, environmental, social, and technological development together. We are a pan‑European political movement with 200 elected representatives across Europe, including 5 members of the European Parliament, over 30,000 members and hundreds of volunteers who work hard to make our vision a reality.

Volt is an inclusive movement that wants to provide space for everyone to thrive. We believe the power of diversity achieves better results for our society at large. We can only be the inclusive political movement we aspire to be, if we represent different voices and perspectives in our society. Your skin colour, gender identity, disabilities, sexual orientation or religious belief do not matter. You are welcome in our organisation, and we want to work together with you to create a better Europe for everyone.

What will you do?

As HR Manager – Nordics, you will play a key role in building and supporting volunteer teams across the Nordic chapters. You will:

  • Develop and lead our HR approach in the Nordics: Ensure Volt’s onboarding, and engagement practices resonate locally and align with our vision and values.

  • Manage and empower volunteer HR coordinators: Create, strengthen and oversee volunteer teams with different focus areas, providing clear guidance and support.

Lead the team to work on the following core tasks:

  1. Recruitment and outreach: Design and execute inclusive volunteer recruitment campaigns; manage applications and interviews; coordinate with chapter leads to meet local needs.

  2. Onboarding and training: Set up structured onboarding flows; deliver orientations; collaborate on learning materials and pathways for skills development.

  3. Volunteer experience and retention: Implement engagement initiatives, recognition practices, and feedback loops to support long‑term commitment.

  4. Coordination with chapters: Align and coordinate with national chapters in the region, supporting and empowering them to manage HR effectively at the local level, while maintaining consistency with Volt Europa frameworks.

What skills do you need to excel in this role?

Project management expertise: You have experience handling multiple HR projects and delivering results on time in collaboration with diverse, cross‑functional teams.

Strong communication skills: You can build trust with volunteers and leaders, craft clear processes and guidance, and adapt messages to different audiences and cultures.

Stakeholder management: You are open and approachable and have experience liaising with different teams at the same time. You work well with people from different backgrounds.

Independent, proactive & flexible: As we work remotely, you’re a self‑starter who takes initiative and works effectively with little supervision, able to anticipate challenges and proactively develop solutions. You can pivot to work on unexpected projects when needed.

Research shows that (oftentimes) female candidates only apply when they meet 100% of the requirements, while male candidates do so when they meet just 60%. We explicitly encourage everyone to apply: you don’t have to tick every box to apply. We also consider your potential and motivation!

What requirements do we ask for this role?

  • Professional/volunteer experience: progressed experience (professional or substantial volunteer) in HR or a related field, ideally including recruitment, onboarding, and volunteer management in remote teams. Familiarity with HR tools and platforms (e.g., Google Workspace, forms, ATS/CRM), and an interest in data‑driven decision‑making.

  • Volunteer setting: You have experience working with volunteers, and you love to manage and empower volunteer teams in a digital ecosystem. Even in an online environment, you know how to keep people engaged.

  • Regional focus: Understanding of the Nordic context (language and cultural nuance are a plus) and willingness to collaborate across Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden.

What do we offer?

A volunteer role with real impact on European society and politics

A dynamic environment where no day is the same and no challenge is too big for you and your colleagues

A flexible, remote work environment where you will collaborate with passionate, like‑minded individuals from across Europe

Short decision‑making processes, flat hierarchies and lots of room to implement your ideas

The opportunity to shape Volt’s HR practices in the Nordics and support diverse teams to thrive
