Policy Trainee (FEMM committee) for the Volt Europa delegation in the European Parliament
Volt Europa is looking for a trainee to support our Member of the European Parliament (MEP) Anna Strolenberg in her work on the Women's Rights & Gender Equality (FEMM) committee. Gender equality is under threat in the current political environment. We want to make sure the topic remains high on the agenda. If you want this too, this traineeship might be something for you.
The successful candidate will be responsible for a variety of tasks in the areas of drafting, research and stakeholder engagement, as well as communication and event organisation. This is an opportunity to gain first-hand experience learning about the role of a policy advisor and the workings of the EU institutions in a fast-paced, fun and multi-cultural environment.
Please apply even if you're unsure whether you meet every requirement. We are committed to equity of opportunity and do not expect trainees to arrive with extensive professional experience.
Responsibilities:
Research and produce briefing notes, reports, articles, speeches, speaking points and explanations of votes for use by Anna and/or the wider Volt delegation;
Assist and participate in the legislative work of the files Anna works on;
Attend and prepare meeting notes on Parliamentary and Joint Committee meetings;
Engage with stakeholders to ensure a variety of perspectives are taken into account in our policy work;
Support communication colleagues with information on policy issues;
Think of campaign actions to get FEMM topics on the political agenda;
Help organise events and related outreach activities, in specific you will assist in the organisation of a feminist conference. You will do this in collaboration with our colleagues from the Greens/EFA political group.
We ask for:
Highly developed communication skills, both verbal and written, demonstrating accuracy and attention to detail;
Good interpersonal skills and a proactive approach, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment;
Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously;
English language competence at CEFR level C1 or above. The Volt Europa delegation’s working language is English;
Knowledge of European politics, policy issues, and current events, and a commitment to progressive values and principles;
Please note that this role requires residency in Brussels or a willingness to relocate.
What we offer:
First-hand experience in the office of a Volt Europa MEP;
The opportunity to develop your expertise on environment and climate-related topics and the EU legislative process;
A purpose-driven work environment, underpinned by our shared commitment to the European project;
A fun, young and international team;
Monthly gross salary of €1.675.
