Let’s unf*ck housing! Berlin meets Europe (Duplicated)
Soaring rents, rapid gentrification, and speculative investments continue to push Berliners out of their neighbourhoods. But Berlin’s housing crisis is far from unique it reflects a broader systemic issue affecting urban centres right across the European Union. To fix local issues in Berlin, we need legislative changes at the European level. As part of a pan-European movement, Volt is leading the drive on an official European Citizens' Initiative (ECI) alongside House Europe! and civil society groups. By gathering 1 million signatures across member states, we can legally oblige the EU to introduce binding rules to curb speculation, boost sustainable renovation, and protect tenants.
