Call for Candidates: Internal Audit Committee member

Role Purpose
The Internal Audit Commission (IAC) is the internal auditing body of Volt Europa AISBL. It ensures that the internal financial governance and processes taken by the organs of Volt Europa comply with the Internal Regulations and Code of Conduct. Each member of the IAC has 4 key tasks + 1:
#1 You will assess whether the financial governance in the Internal Regulations and the Code of Conduct are adhered throughout Volt Europa.
#2 Â You will identify the financial risks that could hamper Volt Europa from achieving its goals, alert leaders to these risks, and proactively recommend improvements to help reduce future risks.
#3 Â You will perform Internal Audits of financial governance and processes for (A)MA's that do not have their own IAC appointed.
#4 You will align internal audit methodologies between Member Associations wherever possible.
+1 You will report on the IAC’s activities minimum once per year, to the Country Council, Volt Europa Board and General Assembly.Â

1. Scope
The Electoral Commission invites any Individual Member of Volt Europa to submit a candidature for a position on the IAC of “Volt Europa A.I.S.B.L.” (referred also as “Volt Europa”). This “Call for candidacies” (referred to as “Call”) outlines the procedure for the submission of candidacies, the review process and the electoral process.Â
The IAC of Volt Europa shall be composed of three (3) members. The members can be re-elected after the first term, and no member can serve in the commission for more than 2 terms. The current members, appointed until the Annual Assembly of 2025, are Johan W. von Krause (Volt Greece) and Benjamin van der Kwaak (Volt Netherlands). The third member, Leonardo Peppel (Volt Germany), was appointed for 3 years at the GA of November 2024.

2. Filing an application
Submit your application through this form until 20 June 23:59h CEST. You will first be asked to provide some personal data, as well as upload your CV and copy of ID or passport (all in English). The second part of the form will ask you some open questions to get to know you better.
We encourage you to apply if, in absence of relevant audit or financial experience, you hold a Law degree obtained at a European university or a foreign equivalent Law degree recognised in the European Union.Â
Candidates must declare that: (1) They commit to fulfil their role during the entire duration of their mandate (three years); (2) They have not been convicted for any criminal offence; (3) They are not subject to any criminal proceedings or investigation; (4) They do not hold a position incompatible with being a member of the IAC. If you apply while you are in a position that is incompatible with being a member of the IAC, you may be requested to withdraw from that position if you wish to pursue your candidacy for the IAC.Â
The mandate of Member of the Internal Audit Commission is in any event incompatible with the position of Member of the Board of Directors or any other position within a body of Volt Europa, Member of the Board of a Member Association or Associated Member Association, any appointed or elected position in a Member Association or Associated Member Association.Â
The EC will send a confirmation after receiving your candidacy application. The Electoral Commission does recommend to avoid “last minute” applications to minimise the risk of formal rejections.
You may withdraw your candidacy until the day before the start of voting.
3. Application’s review process
The EC will review the received applications on a rolling basis. The result of the review will be communicated via email to the candidate.Â
If an application is rejected, the motivation that led the Electoral Commission to take this decision will be provided. The Electoral Commission can only reject candidates on the basis that they do not meet the requirements set out in this Call. A candidate may appeal against a rejection decision to the Arbitration Committee within seven (7) days from the date in which such a decision was communicated.Â
Accepted applications will be communicated to all members through the official channels of Volt Europa.Â
The submitted materials attached to the application will be published on the internal dedicated website for internal elections.
4. Electoral campaign rules
Candidates will have one (1) week of electoral campaign. During the campaign the Electoral Commission might hold an open Q&A with candidates, and the candidates will be asked to present themselves during the GA.Â
The electoral campaign will end the day of the start of voting operations, all candidates must observe the “electoral silence” while the vote is open. All candidates must follow the electoral campaign guidelines and the Code of Conduct. Against unruly behaviour of a candidate, any other candidate can file a complaint, which will be reviewed and decided by the Electoral Commission based on the Code of Conduct.
5. Electoral system, voting and results
Election of the IAC will be held during the next General Assembly, 28 June 2025.Â
Voting will take place electronically, and the vote will be open for an appropriate period of time, according to the General Assembly Agenda. Final time schedule will be communicated to all Members alongside the Notice of Convocation for the General Assembly.
The eligible voters will receive a ballot in which they shall mark three (3) non ranked preferences, candidates that will receive the highest number of preferences will be elected.Â
If the number of candidates is equal or lower than the number of the open positions, the eligible voters will express a yes/no vote for each candidate. Results of the elections will be announced at the end of the votes, candidates might request to observe in the scrutiny procedures.
The elected will be appointed as Members of the IAC by the General Assembly.Â
6. Final notes
The Electoral Commission and the candidates are bound to uphold the procedure in this Call.Â
The Electoral Commission in accordance with the Statutes and Internal Regulations, can make additional decisions and order additional measures pertaining to the elections not set forth in this Call, in order to guarantee the elections’ successful implementation. Any additional decision or measures will be communicated via email to candidates.Â
In case of conflicts between this Call and the Statutes or the Internal Regulations, the Statutes and the Internal Regulations prevail, in that order.
