Right to Housing Campaign– Volunteer Co-Leads (f/m/d)

Being a Co-Lead is a flexible commitment of a few hours per week, and you’ll work remotely together with a small, enthusiastic Core Team who care about our mission.

Why this campaign matters


Housing is one of the defining challenges facing people across Europe. Volt Europa and HouseEurope are joining forces through the European Citizens’ Initiative on the Right to Housing to turn this shared challenge into a genuinely pan-European mobilisation. The campaign is moving from policy development into its public campaigning phase, bringing together communications, events, volunteers, partners and communities across Europe with the goal of mobilising citizens behind the initiative. Just as importantly, this first campaign is intended to help build the networks, knowledge and methods that Volt can reuse for future ECIs—making this an opportunity to help shape not only one campaign, but a longer-term model for citizen participation in European politics.

What will you do?

As one of two volunteer Co-Leads for the ECI on the Right to Housing, you will support the coordination and delivery of a major pan-European campaign. Working closely together and with the wider ECI team, you will help connect the different strands of the campaign and turn a European initiative into visible action across countries and local communities.

Together with the team, you may:

  • Support the day-to-day coordination and internal organisation of the ECI campaign, helping to keep activities, information and follow-up connected;

  • Support communications activities, including helping prepare, organise and disseminate accessible campaign materials and updates;

  • Help coordinate and support European, national and local events and other campaign activities;

  • Support outreach to Volt teams, volunteers and communities across Europe and help motivate people to get involved in the campaign;

  • Help build and maintain relationships with relevant external organisations, partners and supporters, in coordination with the wider ECI team;

  • Connect colleagues and volunteers with the relevant Volt teams and expertise, including Policy, Communications, Campaigns, Events, Partnerships and Communities;

  • Help ensure that campaign information, opportunities and resources reach the people who need them across Volt;

  • Contribute to maintaining shared resources, contact overviews, templates, documentation and other practical tools that support the campaign;

  • Collaborate closely with your fellow Co-Lead and the wider ECI team to strengthen coordination and help the campaign reach its goals.

Depending on your interests and expertise, you may also contribute to activities such as:

  • supporting social media, digital communications and campaign content;

  • helping organise launch events, local activities and signature-collection initiatives;

  • maintaining overviews of campaign activities, contacts, partners and progress;

  • facilitating connections between Volt teams, Chapters, communities, elected representatives and external partners;

  • capturing good practices and helping develop practical tools and approaches that can be reused for future European Citizens’ Initiatives.

What skills do you need to excel in this role?

Research shows that (oftentimes) female candidates only apply when they meet 100% of the requirements, while male candidates do so when they meet just 60%. We explicitly encourage everyone to apply: you don't have to tick every box to apply. We also consider your potential and motivation!

  • Are enthusiastic about European campaigning and enjoy helping turn ideas into practical action;

  • Have strong interpersonal and communication skills and can build positive relationships across cultures, teams and backgrounds;

  • Are organised and able to coordinate several conversations, activities or workstreams at the same time;

  • Are proactive, reliable and solution-oriented, and comfortable taking initiative when useful;

  • Work well collaboratively in an online and international environment;

  • Are flexible, curious and willing to contribute across areas such as communications, events, internal organisation and external outreach.

What requirements do we ask for this role?

  • You are a member of Volt and committed to Volt's values and mission;

  • You are able to communicate comfortably in English;

  • You can dedicate a few flexible hours per week to the role, including occasional participation in online team meetings.

Nice to have

  • Experience supporting campaigns, communications, events, community organising or external outreach;

  • Experience coordinating projects, meetings, volunteers or stakeholder relationships;

  • Familiarity with Volt's structures and ways of working;

  • Experience with online collaboration and communication tools such as Google Workspace, Haiilo or Signal.
