QueerVolt Europa Co-Lead (f/d)

Are you passionate about shaping the voice of a pan-European political movement? Would you like to support LGBTQIA+ people and their rights all over Europe? Are you interested in creating a safe space for queer people within Volt Europa? Then apply now to join Volt Europa as our QueerVolt Europa Co-Lead and help amplify our message across Europe!

Do you want to contribute to Europe's future?

Volt stands for a united and federal Europe, where everyone has equal opportunities to fulfil their unique potential. We strive to achieve the highest human, environmental, social, and technological development together. We are a pan-European political movement with 200 elected representatives across Europe, including 5 members of the European Parliament, over 30,000 members and hundreds of volunteers who work hard to make our vision a reality.

Volt is an inclusive movement that wants to provide space for everyone to thrive. We believe the power of diversity achieves better results for our society at large. We can only be the inclusive political movement we aspire to be, if we represent different voices and perspectives in our society. Your skin colour, gender identity, disabilities, sexual orientation or religious belief do not matter. You are welcome in our organisation, and we want to work together with you to create a better Europe for everyone.

QueerVolt Europa is the group within Volt to support the LGBTQIA+ communities in Europe. We create a safe place for people to share their experiences. We help shape policy with the Volt Europa board and our representatives in parliament and by connecting Volt Europa with European organisations focussing on LGBTQIA+ emancipation.  Founded in 2024, we are building a visible and growing community within Volt,

What will you do?

As QueerVolt Europa Co-Lead, you will play a key role in shaping how QueerVolt Europa communicates its mission and engages its audience across Europe. Together with the other co-lead you will:

  • Develop and lead our community: Ensure QueerVolt Europa's mission and strategy resonates across Europe and aligns with our vision.

  • Manage and empower a team of volunteers: Create, strengthen, and oversee volunteer teams with different focus areas (policy, communications, fundraising, events, national chapters, etc.), providing clear guidance and support.

  • Lead the team to work on the following core tasks:

    • Lead the monthly meetings of QueerVolt Europa

    • Expand our network of contacts and organisations

    • Join prides, general assemblies, and other events to represent QueerVolt Europa

    • Fundraising

    • Support for and contact with elected officials

    • Organising our own events (both online and offline)

  • Coordination with chapters: Align and coordinate with national chapters, supporting and empowering them to join local LGBTQIA+ events (like prides and CSDs) and to include the queer communities in their chapter.

What skills do you need to excel in this role?

Research shows that (oftentimes) female candidates only apply when they meet 100% of the requirements, while male candidates do so when they meet just 60%. We're looking for a female/diverse Co-Lead to help us build a more diverse and dynamic team. We explicitly encourage everyone to apply: you don’t have to tick every box to apply. We also consider your potential and motivation!

  • Builder: You like building a community and setting up new groups and activities.

  • Networking: You enjoy meeting new people and expanding your own and QueerVolt’s network. You are looking forward to joining meetings, both online and in person, of QueerVolt and affiliated organisations, including the other diversity communities.

  • Stakeholder management: You are open and approachable and have experience liaising with different teams at the same time. You work well with people from different backgrounds.

  • Independent, proactive & flexible: As we work remotely, you’re a self-starter who takes initiative and works effectively with little supervision, able to anticipate challenges and proactively develop solutions. You can pivot to work on unexpected projects when needed.

What requirements do we ask for this role?

  • Personal: As our community is centered around the LGBTQIA+ Communities, it’s important to be connected to them and represent them, which could be both as a member or ally. To have a diverse community, we are looking for someone who identifies differently in gender and nationality than our other co-lead (male and Dutch).

  • Volunteer setting: You have experience working with volunteers, and you love to manage and empower volunteer teams in a digital ecosystem. Even in an online environment, you know how to keep people engaged.

  • Commitment: we require a commitment to volunteer around 5-10h / weekly. The work is mainly online and can be done in any location at any time, although there will be some online meetings to attend (mostly in the evenings at CET).
