Policy Communication Lead, EUR Policy Team
Reports to: EUR Policy Leads
Location: Remote
The EUR Policy Team’s Policy Communication Lead plays a key role in ensuring that the Volt membership is kept informed on the workings of the Policy Team. This includes through the drafting of a regular newsletter, internal communications posts, and provision of clear guidance on the policy development process. They also collaborate with the Volt Europa Communications Team to support the development of policy-related content for external publication.
Main Responsibilities:
Oversee all aspects of communication between the EUR Policy Team, the Volt membership and external parties.
Establish and maintain regular channels of communication between the EUR Policy Team and Volt’s members, including through email, newsletters and internal chats.
Work with Volt’s Thematic Communities to develop an engaged and dynamic internal community, promoting practice sharing and collaboration.
Draft copy for and oversee the dissemination of a regular Policy Team newsletter to share updates and encourage the participation of the membership.
Work with the EUR Policy Co-Leads and Policy Process Leads to draft clear guidance and communications on policy development processes, ensuring that queries are managed at all stages.
Work with Policy Shapers to draft articles and social media content, coordinating any external output with the Volt Communications Team.
Maintain a watching brief on current affairs, highlighting important developments amongst the team and identifying opportunities for internal/external communication.
Ensure all communications are consistent with the Volt brand and tone of voice.
Liaise with design teams where formal layout of policy documentation is required and support national teams with translation of documentation to other languages.
Essential requirements:
Highly developed communication skills, both verbal and written, demonstrating accuracy and attention to detail.
Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Strong project management skills, able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
English language competence at CEFR level C1 or above. (The working language of Volt Europa’s EUR Policy Team is English.)
A commitment to upholding principles of diversity and inclusion in all aspects of your work, including the channels through which policy is made.
Knowledge of European politics, policy issues, and current events, and a commitment to progressive values and principles.
Please note that this is an unpaid volunteering position. The Policy Communication Lead is expected to commit 5-10 hours a week to the role.
