Intern to the Co-President Inês

About Volt

Only a Europe that acts together can rise to today’s challenges. Volt was founded to offer a home to people who want a different kind of politics: open, ambitious, and truly European. As the first pan-European party, we work across borders to strengthen democracy, amplify citizens’ voices, and help Europe live up to its potential. Active in more than 30 countries, we bring people together to rethink politics from the local level to the European stage.

The Role

We are looking for an Executive Trainee to support Inês Bravo Figueiredo, Co-President of Volt Europa. This role is built around three core pillars: strengthening her public profile, supporting external networking, and pan-european work coordination.

This is not a traditional administrative assistant position. It is a dynamic role that blends strategic support, research, coordination, communications, and creative input. We are looking for a proactive generalist with a strong sense of agency, someone who wants to shape things, not just react to them.

You will work in an informal, low-hierarchy environment where your ideas are valued and taking creative risks is encouraged. While you will have the autonomy to operate and experiment (this is not a zero-error culture internally), clear guardrails are in place for public-facing communications. Inês is strict on working boundaries: you will be expected to respect working hours, avoiding weekend and after-hours contact unless absolutely necessary.

What You Will Do

  • External Networking & Research: Identify organizations, stakeholders, and events relevant to Inês’s priorities. You will research and prepare strong background briefs ahead of meetings. Note: Inês will lead the initial first contact; your role is to expertly prepare the ground and ensure she is fully equipped.

  • Public Profile & Social Media: Help keep Inês on track with her digital presence. You will bring creative concepts and ideas, not just execution. You will support lightweight content editing (technical training will be provided by our Comms Co-Lead). You will navigate flexible boundaries for Stories, while ensuring sensitive or permanent public posts receive proper sign-off.

  • Relationships & Coordination: Provide administrative and structural support for pan-european-facing work. You will track outreach, agendas, follow-ups, and calendar coordination to ensure that internal relationships are maintained and nobody is left behind.

What We Are Looking For

Must-haves:

  • Proactivity & Agency: You spot opportunities, contribute original ideas, and are comfortable thinking outside the box.

  • Strong Research & Briefing Skills: You can distill complex information into clear, actionable background briefs.

  • Relationship Organization: You have a keen eye for tracking follow-ups, schedules, and outreach processes.

  • Creative Judgment: You have good instincts for social media and public positioning, knowing when to take creative risks and when to seek approval on sensitive geopolitical topics.

Nice-to-haves:

  • A background or strong interest in political public intervention or activism is highly valued.

  • Familiarity with Volt's structure or transnational political organizing.

  • Note: For this role, personal chemistry, initiative, and attitude matter much more than a perfectly polished CV.

What We Offer

Volt is primarily a volunteer-driven organization, which means flexibility matters. We aim for trainees to work around 38 hours per week. We value trust, autonomy, and healthy work-life boundaries.

You will join a fast-paced environment, working closely with leadership. This is a chance to gain a close-up view of European political work inside a growing movement that values initiative and out-of-the-box thinking.
