Social Events around the GA

Get ready to experience the best of Central Europe beyond the GA conference hall! We've got you covered with a curated series of social events across these two closely linked capital cities!

Thursday 11 June

🇦🇹 17:30-19:00 Is Security a European Issue? Why Defense, Resilience, and Democracy Cannot Be National Endeavours

📍Impact Hub Vienna, Lindengasse 56/18-19, 1070 Vienna, Austria

Join us for a debate with our MEP Damian Böselager and other speakers to explore the topic of a common European defence, also from an Austrian perspective. We will discuss if and why we can’t defend ourselves by solo national endeavours only - and how we can also defend our democracy when social media, russian crypto networks and fake news are more effective and cheaper than battle tanks and military force.

🇦🇹 19:00-21:00: Pub Quiz in Vienna

📍Meeting point: Pickwicks, Marc-Aurel-Straße 10–12, 1010 Vienna

Want to relax after your journey and spend a fun evening in Vienna?🍻
As part of the social programme for the VOLT Europe General Assembly in Bratislava, we are organising a pub quiz in Vienna’s Old Town.

Meet old friends, get to know new people, and join a fun quiz before the General Assembly begins. Everyone is welcome!

Please note: The pub is only for people aged 18 and over. Children cannot attend. Not accessable for wheelchairs. If you would like to spend a nice evening in the centre of Vienna, come and join us.

🇸🇰 19.00-20.00 Discover Slovakia in a Glass – Wine Tasting

Imagine spending a summer evening in a cool wine cellar, glass in hand, surrounded by fellow Volters, discovering hidden gems of European wine culture. This tasting offers a unique chance to explore flavours you’ve probably never encountered before—because Slovak wines rarely make it beyond the country’s borders. It’s not just about wine; it’s about conversation, connection, and sharing perspectives in a relaxed, social atmosphere.

Friday

🇦🇹 14:00 - 16:00: Experience Europa Role Play Game

📍 Europa Experience, Rotenturmstraße 19, 1010 Vienna

The popular role-playing game where you can try your hand at being a Member of the European Parliament!

Play together with your group! Participants are divided into fictional political groups and take on the role of a Member of the European Parliament. They form alliances, negotiate with one another, and listen to different opinions to reach a consensus—just as EU lawmakers do. By discussing current issues, participants gain firsthand experience of how decisions are made at the EU level, how these decisions affect the lives of EU citizens, and how European democracy works. The game will be in English!

This event can only take place if we find at least 16 participants!

🇸🇰 City tour Bratislava

Join a relaxed, one-hour city walk led by fellow Volters from the local chapter who know the city and its hidden corners. Whether you’re coming straight from the cruise or already in Bratislava, this is the perfect way to explore, connect, and get your bearings before the GA begins.

🇦🇹 🇸🇰 16:30 Boat ride from Vienna to Bratislava & Speed Date a Volta

Why take a bus or train when you can arrive in Bratislava by boat, together with other Volters, already in the spirit of the GA?

This 1.5-hour cruise along the Danube is more than just transport. It’s part of the experience. As you glide from one capital to another (yes, they’re only about 60 km apart), you’ll enjoy summer views of riverside nature, passing landscapes, and even landmarks like castles and small towns along the way .

On board, we’ll turn the journey into a Volters speed dating session—a relaxed, fun way to meet new people before the GA even begins. Instead of arriving tired, you’ll step into Bratislava already knowing faces, sharing stories, and maybe even having started your next big political debate.

The boat itself adds to the experience: a modern high-speed catamaran that gets you from city centre to city centre in just 75 minutes, combining comfort with a sense of adventure on the water. You can move around, enjoy the open deck, and soak in the atmosphere of a summer day on the Danube.

Saturday

🇸🇰 20:00 - 00:00 Evening party

📍 Tyršák waterfront

After a long, hot day, there’s no better place to unwind than by the river. Welcome to Tyršák—Bratislava’s vibrant urban beach right on the Danube.

Just a short walk across the bridge (or tram ride) from the Old Town, this is a lively open-air space where locals come to relax, socialize, and enjoy summer nights . Think sandy beach vibes (without sand) in the middle of a capital city: a drink in your hand, music in the background, and the river slowly flowing by.

From here, you get some of the best views in the city—looking across the water to Bratislava Castle, the Old Town skyline, and the iconic UFO Bridge. Sunset hits differently when you’re sitting on a beach in the middle of Europe.

The space itself is big, open, and perfect to meet fellow Volters. You’ll find food stands, bars, music, and even beach volleyball courts. It’s the kind of place where you can start the evening casually… and suddenly it’s midnight.

And the best part? The night doesn’t end here. From Tyršák, you’re just minutes away from Bratislava’s pubs, bars, and clubs, making it the perfect starting point for a full night out.
